The research is a multi-stage process, the principal aim of which was to analyze the current situation with English language teaching in Humanitarian, Math and Engineering and Natural science Institutes in Kazan (Volga region) Federal University (Russia). Moreover, one of the scientific goals was to work out the solution of improvement of English language level among the students of these institutes and analyzing current teaching methods used in the process of studying and to find out the more effective techniques to reach the excellence. The novelty of the following study is that it defines the order of modern society, requirements of the university and the real needs of students to use not only the native language in business and science, but also foreign, which will promote academic mobility and future students’ professional career. Presently it is still vital to discuss the syllabus and methods of teaching a foreign language taking into account societal and proficient needs of future specialists, as English is the worldwide means of exchanging information and knowledge. Methodology used in research is theoretical, empirical, methods of collecting data, description and processing of the research results.  The research focuses on three key areas: English language teaching in the Institutes where English is not specialty; studying of state and normative documents, curricula and expecting results of training; materials and resources; staffing, the volume of discipline, entrance and exit ranks of students and assessment issues. The collecting experimental data during the study has allowed creating terms, conditions and training environment for students and the staff that in all will give good results in achieving student’s higher level of English language knowledge and define techniques, methods and ways to reach excellence in this field. The learning of foreign language during the research also helped to provide the increase of the level of students’ educational and self-educational abilities; development of students’ cognitive and research abilities; development of students’ information culture; expansion of students’ outlook and increase of general students’ culture; education of tolerance and respect for cultural wealth of the different countries and people. After the experiment University teachers observed students’ progress which certainly will help them to be successful and let them pass the internal university language test at the end of the course.
