DEVELOPING ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENT IN INTERACTIVE LEARNING AMONG ISLAMIC STUDIES INSTRUCTOR

Abstract

In the Islamic studies corpus, adab (Islamic ethics) is very much emphasized by various scholars. However, due to ever changing technologies, the teaching and learning process is also evolved accordingly. Interactive learning as part of teaching and learning strategies has acquired scholarly attention specifically in Malaysia. This situation has created a divide between conventional Islamic corpus approach and the current demand. Therefore, this study aimed at analyzing the level of skills and acceptance among Islamic studies instructor on interactive learning. It also aimed at developing an integrated instrument for interactive learning assessment. This study employed a sequential mixed methodology design with the deductive textual approach, an expert interview session, and survey using a set of the questionnaire with purposive sampling technique. It is hoped the inclusion of adab in the instrument will provide a better engagement among Islamic studies instructor towards interactive learning. It also looks into possibilities contribution in the teaching and learning strategies and assessment for a better ummah.
